Born in the boonies in Vermont and homeschooled for the first twelve years of my life, I started taking music lessons when I was four. I began by learning the recorder, then moved on to the violin, but neither instrument stuck. After two years, I decided that the only instrument that could make me truly happy was piano. I was right. From that year on, my love affair with the ol' ivories blossomed and the piano became something I couldn't live without. During my first twelve years of lessons I was trained classically, in music theory as much as in technique.  When I hit my years of early teenagerhood, I also began writing my own songs and instrumental compositions. It wasn't until my senior year of high school that I realized the music I was writing wasn't terrible and it was at that point that I became determined to pursue a career in songwriting. In 2005, I was accepted into Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and graduated summa cum laude in 2009 with a BM in Professional Music. After spending five post-college years in the lovely city of Portland, OR, I now reside in San Francisco.
